Before switching gears to a new work project this morning, I took some time to re-organize some of the files on my computer. The last week I’ve been really focusing to finish a particular project, letting many of the things around me “go by the wayside.” You don’t always realize how much you’ve let things slide, until you stop and look around.
As I noticed the onslaught of things piling up in places that didn’t make sense after the fact, I felt like I just had to organize before I could go on.
I call this “Straightening Your Pencil Cup.” I laugh at myself sometimes, because I feel a little like a stereotype – a person who has to have everything “just so” before I’m ready to tackle anything new.
But, it’s amazing that once I take the time to organize a little, how much better I feel.
It’s like de-cluttering and organizing my work space (whether physical or digital), helps me de-clutter my brain, because I no longer need to expend any energy or focus trying to “not focus” or not SEE what I don’t want to deal with.
Ahhhhh.
Now that the digital space is a bit better, it’s time to tackle the physical space . . . but alas, it will have to wait just a few more days.
I may be able to put off organizing, but not meeting deadlines. LOL.
