On my journey home one afternoon recently, I found myself “in the moment,” enjoying the drive, the sunshine, the sites around me, the place that was once foreign now familiar.
As I took in the landscape, I began to notice how many trees there were, and I thought it was strange because I hadn’t really noticed before.
Several months ago we moved to a new city to live with my husband who travels for work. Coming from Northern Idaho, the city of Fargo, North Dakota was a definite change. In my mind, flat, flat, and more flat.
Oh, and treeless.
It doesn’t mean I wasn’t excited to be here, I was ready for the adventure, and have enjoyed being closer to the many amenities. But, there were a few things I knew I was just going to have to accept, including, the void of mountains and trees.
That afternoon was different though. That day, I noticed that there were tons of trees all around me! True, they weren’t like what I’m used to seeing in Idaho, but they were still trees.
It occurred to me then how much we truly “see” what our perception is, or what we expect to see. We truly design the world around us. A gift in so many ways.
As I’ve been here and taken the time to step more into “me,” it’s amazing what I SEE.
And I can’t wait to see what’s next.
